VOC

Organic chemicals and petrochemicals that emit vapors while evaporating. In paint, VOC generally refers to the solvent portion of the paint which, when it evaporates, results in the formation of paint film on the substrate to which it was applied. Some states and counties have regulations on the amount of VOC that can be contained within a particular line of paint, these amounts are usually expressed in terms of parts per million (ppm), or as grams per liter (g/L).
