Shonda Bowden is a passionate and experienced interior designer with over three decades in the design world, dedicated to helping people create spaces they truly love to live and work in. Alongside her husband, she co-owned a specialty painting and interior consulting business in Denver, Colorado, where they successfully operated for eight years. Her projects included large-scale installations and murals for Denver’s elite athletes and notable commercial businesses.
Shonda’s foundation in fine arts stems from her years of study at Denver’s Art Students League, where she honed her skills in color, composition, and various painting techniques. She has taught painting classes for adults and children from K through 12th grade, and she even illustrated a published book of short poems and stories. As a fine artist with a keen eye for color, she sees a natural synergy between interior design and art, applying principles of balance, texture, space, and color to each project with a practiced eye for the big picture.
While living in the Pacific Northwest, Shonda managed the merchandising and maintenance of a major furniture store, earning recognition for creating one of the region’s most visually appealing store environments. She values attentive listening and effective questioning when working with clients, guiding a collaborative process that results in thoughtfully curated spaces that are functional, comfortable, and beautiful—always a true reflection of the people who inhabit them.
Currently, Shonda is a designer for one of the last remaining family-owned businesses with over 125 years of history. She considers it a privilege to work with clients to create spaces they’ll love being in every day.
My focuses and skills in design largely lie in color and texture arrangement. My process is somewhat holistic, though. I work with the sciences behind colors when making suggestions and selections, but I truly believe that the most important colors are the ones that make you happy.
